National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO)
The combined radio astronomy facilities operated in the USA by a private consortium of universities, Associated Universities Inc. It obtains its funding under a cooperative agreement with the National Science Foundation. The telescopes operated by NRAO are at three different locations: the Very Large Array (VLA) in New Mexico, a millimetre-wave telescope at Kitt Peak, Arizona, and the Green Bank Telescope, a 42-metre (140-foot) dish and an interferometer, at Green Bank, West Virginia. The NRAO administration is in Charlottesville, Virginia.
